“A different perspective, a melding of ideas…Learning that at a young age before graduating college was really inspirational, and something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.”
– Karly Moen, North Dakota

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization seeking to change the nature of our country’s political discourse and the manner in which our
nation approaches ideological divisions by educating both current and future leaders in the principles of statesmanship in the tradition of one of Kentucky’s greatest historical figures, Henry Clay. Through academic programs, elected official education, and engagement with the American public, we challenge individuals to listen to those who hold different beliefs from their own, to participate in civil discourse, to identify common ground and shared goals, to build relationships based on personal interactions rather than preconceived notions, and to learn the art of cooperation while maintaining individual convictions and values. At the Henry Clay Center, we believe in the words of our organization’s namesake that “there is nothing wrong with America that can’t be fixed by what’s right with America.”
