Alec Hughes is a junior at the University of Michigan studying Political Science and Economics. He is originally from DeWitt, Michigan. Active in Democratic politics, he co-chairs his College Democrats chapter and has worked on campaigns across Michigan. He also serves as Economic Policy Chair at the Michigan Institute for Progressive Policy, where he has lobbied the state legislature for reforms to Michigan’s minimum wage and housing policies. During the Summer of 2022, Alec had the privilege to intern for Governor Gretchen Whitmer in the Michigan Infrastructure Office. After graduation, he hopes to find work in a legislative office on Capitol Hill. Alec’s hobbies include collecting records and playing the guitar as well as watching movies.
