Melanie Klein is a junior at American University, where she studies Data Science for Justice, Law, and Criminology. She is a member of the American University and School of Public Affairs Honors Programs, pursuing minors in Political Science and Computer Science, along with a Digital Technology certificate. Melanie is passionate about data-driven research and policies, leading her to become an Analyst Intern at the U.S. Government Accountability Office and a Research and Evaluation Intern at the Partnership for Public Service. At school, Melanie is a Research Fellow at the Center for Data Science and mentors students engaging in community service. Additionally, she volunteers with nonprofits that provide homeless services and is committed to combating the criminalization of homelessness. In her free time, Melanie loves dancing and serves as the Treasurer of her university’s largest student-run dance club.
