Melissa Shane, originally from Lexington, Kentucky, is currently a junior at Emory University pursuing a degree in Political Science & Public Policy Analysis. While she is considered a full-time student, the root of her passions lies in her extracurriculars, as she is President of Kappa Alpha Pi, the only Pre-Law Fraternity at Emory, a staff writer for the undergraduate law journal, and a current intern at the DeKalb County Public Defender’s Office. Her interest in policy derives from her core belief in open expression, as she serves as one of two undergraduate students on Emory’s Open Expression Committee. Outside of these involvements, she can frequently be found attending concerts, rambling about pop culture, and playing basketball. Not traveling far from home, Melissa is thrilled to represent her home state of Kentucky at the 2024 College Student Congress.
