Shayla Newgard is junior at North Dakota State University. She is studying Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice. She is a member of many organizations on campus such as Pre-Law Club and College Republicans. Shayla is also a member of Kappa Delta Sigma Psi sorority where she works with the Events and Programing Board as the Director of Philanthropy and Community Service. Shayla currently works as an intern at a law firm in Bismarck, North Dakota. Shayla plans to attend law school, practice law, as well as pursue politics in order to change aspects of the Criminal Justice System, such as reducing and changing drug sentencing and prioritizing rehabilitation specifically juvenile offenders. Her overall goal is to be the first female Governor of North Dakota.
