Austin Ezzard is an undergraduate student at Virginia Commonwealth University majoring in Social Work with a minor in Public Management. At VCU, Austin serves as a Presidential Student Ambassador, the President of Pi Lambda Phi’s VA Omega Rho Chapter, and the Outreach and Relations chair of the VCU Office of Student Leadership and Engaged Learning’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, in addition to other endeavors on campus. During the past semester, Austin interned with the Office of Senator Ghazala Hashmi in the Virginia General Assembly during the 2023 Legislative session and expanded his knowledge of public service and the policymaking process. After obtaining his BSW, Austin intends to explore community organizing and macro or mezzo social work practice, emphasizing citizen engagement and democracy in a local context.
