Rachel Schmidt is a recent graduate of Montana State University, where she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Political Science, a minor in Hispanic Studies, and Highest Distinction in Honors. During her time at MSU, Rachel served as an ASMSU Senator At-Large and dedicated her efforts towards fundraising $140,000 to renovate the Student Memorial, revising the ASMSU Constitution, combating institutional inequity and increasing the transparency of student government. As an undergraduate, Rachel traveled to Scotland to work on a research project that examined how partisanship, identity, and strategic legislative obfuscation affects public perceptions of government. As broken as it may seem, Rachel is passionate and optimistic about our world and wants to positively impact the lives of people living in it. Her favorite pastimes include re-reading the Harry Potter series and binge-watching all things Star Wars (a dead giveaway is her Darth Vader backpack!).
